Old Movie Teams
Weren’t they also in that other movie?Doris Day & James Cagney
James Cagney and Doris Day appeared together in three movies. Their first joint venture came in 1950 with The West Point Story. The following year, they appeared again on the same screen in Starlift: a variety show featuring a cavalcade of song and dance acts. Not until 1955 did they reunite, this time in a movie loaded with some high drama: the Ruth Etting bio of Love Me Or Leave Me (see picture above).
The two stars formed a threesome with Virginia Mayo, who also appeared with them in The West Point Story and Starlift.

I agree – best of Doris Day. Love James Cagney – his top two would be Love Me or Leave Me and Yankee Doodle Dandy!
Edward Andrews resembles somewhat of a Craig resident from Colorado, Owen P. Dyar.
I’m surprised you omitted the fabulous team of Doris Day and Rock Hudson! They were wonderful together in Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers. In fact, you can also add Tony Randall as the third wheel in a terrific comedic trio.
Yes; I’m surprised by the omission, too. Thank you for pointing it out. Well, it’s off to Hawaii for a 3-month hiatus — actually, not going anywhere until I rectify my oversight about the Doris Day/Rock Hudson/Tony Randall team. Stay tuned . . .
I think Love Me or Leave Me was one of Doris Day’s best movies! It really gave her a good chance to show that she could also do a serious drama.
